The official rider start list and race numbers for the 2024 Dakar Rally have been confirmed. Tomorrow's opening prologue on Friday, January 5 will kick off the two-week racing adventure in Saudi Arabia. All competitors on the list have successfully met the technical requirements and passed scrutineering to participate in the Dakar '24 prologue. Notably, Mason Klein, who faced bike troubles recently, managed to resolve his issues with the help of his team. The start order for the first race day will be determined by the prologue, emphasizing the importance of a smooth and error-free navigation to set the pace for the rest of the rally.
Here are some interesting facts about the 2024 Dakar Start List:
A total of 770 competitors will be competing in the 46th edition of the Dakar.
The start list includes 418 race vehicles: 132 bikes (including 28 Original by Motul unassisted bikers), 30 W2RC participants, 10 quads, 70 cars, 36 SSVs, and 47 trucks.
The field consists of 130 rookies and 133 participants classified as "Legends" for their 10th or more participation.
There are 27 women taking part in the competition.
France leads in the number of competitors with 124 participants, followed by Spain with 84 and the Netherlands with 62, maintaining the same top three nationalities as the previous year.
