2024 Honda CB300R: A Reliable Return with Unchanged Brilliance

2024 Honda CB300R: A Reliable Return with Unchanged Brilliance

Honda is reintroducing the CB300R for the 2024 model year in the United States. The motorcycle remains largely unchanged from the previous year, except for a $100 price increase. It is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in July 2023, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $5,149.

The mechanical aspects of the 2024 CB300R in the US have not been modified, as Honda already considered it to be a competent and well-built motorcycle. In previous comparisons of entry-level naked bikes, the CB300R received high praise. Last year, minor updates were made to the US version, including the addition of a gear position indicator on the LED instrument panel for added convenience.

However, Honda provided more attention to the European 300 models for the 2022 model year. The European press release mentioned a minor engine update to comply with Euro 5 emissions regulations, resulting in slightly increased horsepower and torque figures. Additionally, the European models received a new Showa SFF-BP fork and a new slip/assist clutch. Unfortunately, these upgrades did not extend to the US models in 2023 or 2024.

Despite the lack of upgrades, the returning US model retains its appeal. The 2024 CB300R features an unchanged tube steel frame, inverted (nonadjustable) fork, and a spirited liquid-cooled 286cc engine. With a weight of just 316 pounds without ABS and a full tank of fuel, it is the lightest entry-level streetbike in the 300cc class. The CB300R's lightweight contributes to its surprisingly lively acceleration, and its counterbalanced engine ensures a smooth and well-balanced ride.

The 2024 CB300R maintains its Neo-Sports Café style, excellent build quality, and standard ABS, making it a worthwhile choice for riders seeking a fuel-efficient motorcycle. Despite the $100 price increase and no significant changes for the 2024 model year, the CB300R remains a solid option for riders concerned about fuel consumption, newcomers to the sport, and even experienced commuters.

The 2024 Honda CB300R has an MSRP of $5,149 and will be available in Pearl Dusk Yellow or Matte Black Metallic when it arrives at dealerships in July.
