In 2024, BMW Motorrad is set to release a range of new adventure bikes, including the highly anticipated R1300GS. However, it's not just the R1300GS that will make waves, as BMW plans to introduce a completely revamped F900GS, a long-distance F900GS Adventure, and an A2-friendly F800GS. These new models will replace the current F850GS and F750GS lineup, and aim to compete with rival brands such as Triumph, KTM, Husqvarna, Ducati, and Yamaha.
Both the F900GS and F900GS Adventure will be powered by an 895cc 8-valve parallel twin engine with a 270-degree firing order. They will feature different states of tune and twin counterbalance shafts. The claimed power output for both bikes is 103.3bhp at 8500rpm, an increase from the outgoing F850GS model's 94bhp. This power boost is partly due to the increased engine capacity from 853cc.
The F900GS has undergone some significant changes, shedding a claimed 14kg to achieve a weight of 219kg ready to roll. It sports a more off-road inspired design with a beakier front end, revised lighting, and a taller screen available as an optional extra for improved comfort over long distances. The promotional imagery also showcases a single seat design that can be added at an extra cost to reduce weight further. The F900GS features a lighter aluminum swingarm, a revised 14.5-liter plastic fuel tank that is 4.5kg lighter than the previous model, and a spoked 21-inch front and 17-inch rear rim for off-road capability.
The F900GS Adventure retains a more recognizable design and comes with a larger 23-liter tank. Both the F900GS and F900GS Adventure come equipped with standard riding modes (Rain and Road), ABS, and traction control. An optional 'Pro' set-up is available, offering additional riding modes (Dynamic and Enduro) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) to prevent rear wheel lockups. The F900 models can also be upgraded with the 'Enduro Pro' pack, which includes fully adjustable suspension and other off-road enhancements.
Other notable features include LED lighting, a full-color 6.5-inch TFT display, keyless ignition, an emergency quick call system, AkrapoviΔ exhaust silencer, enduro footrests, handguards, heated grips, and various accessories such as luggage options and satellite navigation.
The pricing for the BMW F900GS starts at Β£11,995, while the F900GS Adventure starts at Β£12,350. The lower-powered F800GS will be available for Β£9,995. All three models are expected to be released in early 2024.
