The 2024 CFMoto 450MT is a lightweight, middleweight dual-purpose motorcycle that has been highly anticipated by off-road riding enthusiasts. The pricing for Malaysia has not been confirmed yet, but it is expected to be below RM30,000 and available in the local market in late-May or early-June. The 450MT will compete with motorcycles such as the KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 in the Malaysian market.
The 450MT is CFMoto's entry into a segment that riders have been asking for, a lightweight, dual-purpose motorcycle that offers good suspension and versatility. CFMoto Malaysia flew a group of Malaysian moto journalists to El Nido, Palawan for the international media launch of the 450MT, where they were able to test its capabilities under the guidance of Filipino riding coaches.
CFMoto sees the 450MT as an important motorcycle for their brand and plans to expand internationally, particularly targeting the European market. During the media launch, CFMoto explained that the 450MT is designed to be capable both on-road and off-road. It features KYB upside-down front forks with 200 mm of wheel travel and 20-level damping adjustment, as well as a rear monoshock with 20 levels of preload adjustment and rebound damping.
One notable feature of the 450MT is its off-road sized wheels, with a 21-inch hoop in the front and an 18-inch wheel in the rear. This allows for the use of proper off-road tires. The 450MT is positioned as a dual-purpose motorcycle in the vein of the Yamaha XT660 and Honda XL600, which are road-legal motorcycles capable of off-road riding.
The 450MT is powered by a liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine with a displacement of 450 cc. It delivers 43.5 hp at 8,500 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 6,250 rpm. The engine's power delivery is smooth and efficient, with good low- and mid-range torque.
In terms of handling, the 450MT performs well both on- and off-road. It features adjustable KYB suspension with upside-down forks in the front and a rear monoshock with preload and rebound adjustment. The suspension provides good feedback and control, giving the rider confidence in various riding conditions.
The 450MT also comes equipped with a range of electronics, including a curved 5-inch TFT-LCD screen and an off-road mode switch that allows the rider to turn off the rear wheel ABS. The bike also offers over-the-air updates for the firmware and has a tracking function and data logger via the CFMoto app.
