Exciting News for Model Builders: The Honda XL250R Baja is Coming!

Got JDM? The Honda XL250R Baja We Never Got In North America Is Coming In Model Form

If you're looking for a unique model kit to work on this winter, Hasegawa has something special in store: the Honda XL250R Baja. This model, inspired by the classic Baja 1000 racer, offers a refreshing alternative to the typical superbikes and vintage roadsters that dominate the market.

Officially named the XLR Baja, this model kit showcases a Honda 250 four-stroke that was modified for off-road adventures. While some might wonder why Hasegawa chose a 250 instead of the more powerful 600s that dominated the Baja races in the 1990s, the XL250R Baja is a tribute to a variant of the Honda XL250R that was popular in Japan and other markets, but never made its way to the U.S.

Originally launched in 1985, the XL250R Baja debuted in 1987, boasting enhancements like a rally-style lighting kit, large twin headlights, and rear disc brakes. The upcoming model kit reproduces the improved 1991 version, featuring upgraded suspension and off-road capabilities, all crafted from a brand-new mold based on thorough research.

Scheduled for release in December 2024, the model comes in a 1/12 scale, complete with chrome-plated parts and vibrant paint options in white, red, gray, and black. This project promises to engage both seasoned model builders and newcomers alike, making it a must-have for enthusiasts looking to celebrate Honda's off-road legacy.
