Husqvarna is teasing motorcycle enthusiasts with the prototype-like appearance of its new Svartpilen 801. However, industry insiders believe that this is actually the production-ready version of the bike. While technical details are scarce, it is widely believed that the Svartpilen 801 is based on a KTM model, as both brands fall under the same parent company. Following the pattern of previous Svartpilen models, the number 11 is added to the KTM model designation, indicating that the Svartpilen 801 is likely based on the KTM 790 Duke.
One detail that has been confirmed by Husqvarna is the output of the Svartpilen 801. With 105 horsepower produced by its parallel-twin engine, it matches the power of the 790 Duke. However, the Svartpilen is slightly heavier, weighing in at 181 kilograms (399 pounds), likely due to its unique bodywork and additional features.
Husqvarna has also revealed that the Svartpilen 801 will come equipped with a range of electronic rider aids, including a quick-shifter. It shares the same WP suspension and open-lattice swingarm as the 790 Duke, while its bodywork follows the neo-retro flat track design theme seen on previous Svartpilen models.
The Svartpilen 801 showcases a stunning set of five-spoke wheels and an exhaust system reminiscent of the original Svartpilen concept. Husqvarna has released a video of the bike being ridden, building anticipation for its full unveiling in two weeks.
While the Svartpilen 801 is generating excitement, it has also raised questions about the potential release of a Vitpilen 801 and a Svartpilen 901 based on the KTM 890 platform. Motorcycle enthusiasts eagerly await further details and, most importantly, when they will have the opportunity to ride these new models.
