2024 Triumph Daytona 660: A Modern Take on the Classic Sportbike

2024 Triumph Daytona 660: A Modern Take on the Classic Sportbike

The 2024 Triumph Daytona 660 is a middleweight sport bike that aims to bring back the more well-rounded and street-friendly sportbikes of the past. It offers sporty looks without the extreme ergonomics and high price tags of hypersportbikes. Priced at $9,195, it is targeted towards riders who want performance without sacrificing comfort.

The Daytona 660 features a 660cc three-cylinder engine that produces about 95 horsepower and 51 lb-ft of torque. It has a higher redline and a bigger airbox compared to its sibling, the Trident 660, allowing for more air intake. The engine also has various internal modifications to maximize power output.

In terms of suspension, the Daytona 660 has a new frame based on the Trident but with reinforcements and tweaks for a sportier ride. It comes with Showa suspension components, including a 41mm Big Piston Fork and a single shock in the rear. However, the suspension lacks adjustable settings, with only preload adjustment available.

The ergonomics of the Daytona 660 are more aggressive than the Trident, with pegs that are further back and higher, and lower handlebars. It falls between the racer ergonomics of the Yamaha R7 and the more upright position of the Kawasaki Ninja 650.

Stopping power is provided by radial-mount 4-piston calipers up front and a single-piston caliper in the rear. ABS and traction control are standard, and the bike also features a ride-by-wire throttle with three ride modes: Sport, Road, and Rain.

The Daytona 660 offers various accessories, including a color-matched seat cowl, heated grips, and Triumph Shift Assist for clutchless shifting. It also has a TFT screen and the My Triumph connectivity system for turn-by-turn navigation and smartphone integration.

Overall, the Triumph Daytona 660 aims to capture the spirit of the sportbikes of the past while offering modern technology and a more street-friendly riding experience.
