The Triumph Daytona 660: A Long-Awaited Middleweight Sportbike Set to Redefine the Rules

The Triumph Daytona 660: A Long-Awaited Middleweight Sportbike Set to Redefine the Rules

from Instagram@officialtriumph

Rumors of the highly anticipated Triumph Daytona 660 have been circulating in the motorcycle world for over a year. While rumors are common and not always accurate, there have been compelling pieces of evidence to support the existence of this new bike. In August 2022, spy photos surfaced showing a bike that strongly resembled a Triumph Daytona 660 being tested in Europe, showcasing the iconic Daytona styling.

However, development of new motorcycles takes time, and despite the promising signs, there was no certainty about when the bike would be officially unveiled. That is, until now. Triumph Motorcycles recently took to their social media channels to tease a January 2024 new bike launch. The teaser consisted of three photos: one featuring a rider on a shadowy sportbike at night, the second revealing the release date of January 9, 2024, and the third showcasing a close-up of an engine case with "660" written on the lower fairing.

Accompanying the photos was a caption that hinted at a significant change and invited viewers to be the first to find out by following their story. The Facebook post also provided a direct link to a signup page on the official Triumph website for more information. Although Triumph hasn't explicitly confirmed that the new bike is the Daytona 660, the evidence strongly suggests it.

If the speculations from the 2022 spy photos hold true, the Daytona 660 is likely to be powered by the same 660cc triple engine found in the Trident 660 and Tiger Sport 660. This engine boasts a claimed 81 horsepower and 47.2 pound-feet of torque, with a six-speed gearbox. It remains to be seen if Triumph has tuned it differently to suit the more aggressive nature of a middleweight sportbike.

The upcoming full reveal in January 2024 will provide all the details and specifications of the Daytona 660. Motorcycle enthusiasts and Triumph fans eagerly await the opportunity to learn more about this highly anticipated model.
