BMW Motorrad Unveils the R 12 and R 12 nineT: Customizable Icons of the Boxer-twin Range

BMW Motorrad recently showcased its latest models, the R 12 and R 12 nineT, at the Deus Cafe in Camperdown. The event was held at Deus, a renowned customizing center for motorcycles, making it the perfect venue for BMW's R12 range, which is highly customizable. Attendees had the opportunity to enjoy the in-house cafe while contemplating how to enhance and personalize their R12 bikes using the factory's range of aftermarket accessories.

The event highlighted BMW Motorrad's success in 2023, with record-breaking sales of 209,257 units. The brand's five-year warranty, which is now a standard offering, is expected to influence other manufacturers to follow suit. Additionally, BMW's famous BMW Safari continues to attract both existing and prospective customers, providing them with a brand-focused experience.

The focus of the event was on the ergonomics and overall style of the new R 12 models. The R 12 features a taller seat height, 19-inch front wheel, 16-inch rear wheel, and a 60.7-degree steering-head angle. On the other hand, the R 12 nineT boasts dual 17-inch wheels, a taller seat height, and a 63.2-degree steering-head angle. It is also lighter than the standard R 12, weighing 220kg.

Both models are powered by an air/oil-cooled two-cylinder boxer engine and come with features such as double silencers, a new airbox under the seat, and a one-piece tubular spaceframe with a bolt-on sub-frame. They also include advanced safety features like BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, DTC, and engine drag torque control.

BMW Motorrad encourages buyers to view these bikes as blank canvases for customization, with an extensive range of accessories available from the BMW catalogue. The R 12 is priced at $20,120 + ORC, while the R 12 nineT starts from $23,990.

In addition, BMW Motorrad Australia has introduced a new feature called the BMW Online Stock Locator, which allows customers to order their desired accessories online and have them delivered directly to their local dealer.

Overall, the event showcased BMW Motorrad's commitment to evolving its iconic Boxer-twin range and providing customers with customizable options that meet their individual preferences and riding dynamics.
