Lecuona Steps Up to Replace Injured Rins at LCR Honda for British MotoGP

Lecuona Steps Up to Replace Injured Rins at LCR Honda for British MotoGP

Iker Lecuona will replace Alex Rins at LCR Honda for the upcoming British MotoGP at Silverstone. Rins is still recovering from a right leg injury sustained during a crash at Mugello last month. Lecuona currently races for Honda’s official World Superbike team and has already made two MotoGP appearances this season. He replaced Marc Marquez at Repsol Honda at the Spanish Grand Prix and Joan Mir at the Dutch Grand Prix at Assen. Both Mir and Marquez are expected to return from injury at Silverstone. Lecuona is currently 13th overall in WorldSBK with a best result of fourth so far in 2023, secured in the Superpole race in Barcelona.

Lecuona expressed his desire to do his best and help the team while wishing Rins a speedy recovery. He also mentioned his fondness for Silverstone's layout and thanked the Honda family and LCR for the opportunity. However, his involvement in the BritishGP at Silverstone means that he can no longer take part in the Suzuka 8-Hour for Team HRC, as both events are taking place on the same weekend. Lecuona has been replaced by Tetsuta Nagashima.
