Lexmoto Unveils Affordable Nexus Scooter with Modern Features and Learner-Legal Performance

Lexmoto, a budget-friendly motorcycle manufacturer, has introduced their latest learner-legal scooter model, the Nexus. Priced at £3249.99, the Nexus offers features such as a color TFT dash and keyless ignition. Powered by a liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, it produces 13.8bhp and claims a top speed of 69mph. The 12-liter fuel tank feeds the DOHC four-stroke engine, which transfers power to the rear wheel through a belt drive, eliminating the need for chain maintenance. The scooter also includes under-seat storage large enough to accommodate a full-face helmet and additional gear.

With a design resembling the BMW C400X, the Nexus features modern plastics, a raised front screen, and a right-side exhaust exit. Practicality is enhanced by twin front pockets located below the handlebar controls, providing convenient storage for the rider. The scooter boasts a 7-inch color TFT dash, displaying essential information like speed, revs, temperature, fuel gauge, trip meter, and odometer.

Weighing in at 185kg, the Nexus is slightly heavier than its more expensive competitors, such as the Honda Forza 125 and Yamaha XMAX 125. However, these higher-priced alternatives offer better dealer networks, parts availability, and servicing options, as well as potentially better resale value.

The Lexmoto Nexus features a seat height of 760mm and has the capacity to carry a pillion passenger. It is equipped with non-adjustable 37mm front forks, twin shocks, and 14-inch front and 13-inch rear rims fitted with 120-section and 130-section tires, respectively. Braking is handled by a single 260mm front disc and a 220mm rear rotor, although ABS is not included.

Additional details about the Nexus include its 1600mm wheelbase, which is longer than the Yamaha TMAX 562cc scooter, potentially affecting maneuverability at low speeds. The scooter offers a keyless fob and central unit for turning the bike on and off, as well as locking the steering, although a traditional key option is available. The Nexus comes in black or grey and is priced at £3249.99 plus on-the-road costs. It is backed by a two-year parts and labor warranty and can be purchased for £78.79 per month over three years with a £1000 deposit.
