Royal Enfield's Modern Retro Masterpiece: The INT 650

Royal Enfield's Modern Retro Masterpiece: The INT 650

Royal Enfield has revived the spirit of its iconic Interceptor model with the introduction of the 2024 INT 650. This modern retro motorcycle offers an affordable and authentic riding experience that appeals to both novice and experienced riders.

At the heart of the INT 650 is a 648cc air-and-oil-cooled parallel twin engine that produces a respectable 46.8 horsepower and 38.6 lb-ft of torque. While not overpowering, the engine delivers a broad spread of usable torque, allowing riders to comfortably navigate city traffic or tackle twisty roads. A 270-degree crankshaft and secondary counter balancer keep vibrations in check, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable ride.

The INT 650's chassis is equally impressive, with a steel double-downtube frame developed by renowned British specialists Harris Performance. Despite tipping the scales at a claimed 478 pounds, the bike handles with responsive yet neutral steering, thanks to its sporty 24-degree rake and 4.2-inch trail. Suspension components, though on the softer side, provide a comfortable and composed ride.

Retro styling cues abound, from the chrome-plated engine to the classic two-tone paint schemes. The 2024 model year also introduces blacked-out variants with cast wheels that accommodate tubeless tires, adding a modern twist to the timeless design.

At a starting price of $6,149, the INT 650 stands apart in the retro twin-cylinder market, undercutting the competition while delivering an authentic and engaging riding experience. Royal Enfield has truly captured the spirit of the original Interceptor in a thoroughly modern package.
